I would then begin to assess the child’s background to determine if they were born in the United States or in their family’s country of cultural origin. If the child immigrated to the United States, I would learn more about the length of time in residence in their new home state as well as in the country. This information would help in gaining a better understating of the adolescent’s cultural experiences.
