Cultural diversity is defined as: "The variety of experiences and perspective which arise from differences in race, culture, religion, mental or physical abilities, heritage, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and other characteristics" (Human resources, 2014). Is important to understand how these extents affect performance, motivation, success, and interactions with friends, different groups, also with co-workers and employers.
Because linguistic physiognomies are a part of national origin, companies have to closely analyze promotion decisions based on accent to make sure they don’t violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The company that Maria works for did not engage in discriminatory practices when they promoted Alex, and not Maria.
