Cultural Diversity In America

Hello everyone, Race is associated with biology where ethnic is associated with culture. Race refers to the way a person looks physically, by generic characteristics. Such as a person’s facial structure, eyes, hair, and skin color. Race was attribute to physical characteristic and divided in groups in the early 19th century. This classification can be complicated as U.S. has become more diverse and diversity continues to grow. Such integration is bringing new races as generations grow and continue to integrate Ethic groups refer to people who belong to a social group having a distinctive culture such as nationality, religion, regional structure, heritage, and language. The ethnic groups’ based on the census.gov classification are whites Americans, African Americans or Blacks, Hispanics or Latinos, Asians, Native American and Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, and people of two or more races. We have all shared social issues due to our race that have affected each one of us at one time or another. There is one instance that we always encounter; people usually assume who we are, where we come from just by looking at us or our accent. This bothers some of us more than to others. My family emigrated to the U.S. back on the 70’s, we arrived to New York and it was a culture sock for all of us as we did not speak English. I remember how there were different groups in the school; these were based on race and ethnicity and I felt out a place for a while, once I started learning English it was easy to integrate with one of this
