However besides teachers being emotionally supportive in the classroom they should be culturally aware of their students, and take in account of their cultural differences. How exactly can teachers take in account of their students cultural differences? Teachers should see each student as a unique individual and while working with the student and the parents take time to understand the extent to which individuals participate in the practice of their cultural communities. With the teacher being aware and respecting students cultural beliefs, students with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds influences the student 's approach to their success with various learning tasks. However several researchers have identified specific characteristics that contribute to the success some teachers have in teaching students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Briefly stated, the effective multicultural teacher does the following: (1) Provides students with clear objectives. (2) Communicate high expectations to the student. Peer tutoring involves the teaching of one student by another. Children with different cognitive schemes such as, differences in age, knowledge, or cultural backgrounds are able to interact with each other. Researchers have found that peer tutoring aids achievement for students in various subjects. This instructional method has been proven to be beneficial, but only if the student is trained to provide knowledge-building explanations and questions. Instead of telling student the answer, the student also should provide new information, discuss underlying concepts, connect ideas, and pose questions. (Snowman and McCown) Cooperative learning is working in small heterogeneous of four to five students, and help one another master the various of a particular task,students will be more motivated to learn, learn more when they work independently, and will create more interpersonal relationships than they would by working alone. David Johnson and Roger Johnson(1998, 2009a), researchers of the effects of cooperative learning for more than 25 years, made an observation that students can not learn everything they need to know about cultural diversity from books and articles. A better understanding of diversity can come from working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
