A cultural difference between the movie, Hercules, and the myth is that of family values. When it comes to family values, the movie did it much differently than the myth. For instance, in the movie, Zeus only had one wife. Hollywood did not want to show Zeus cheating on around three of his wives. In addition, that is not a good example for children. Their relationship is not comparable to that of Romeo and Juliet because they knew each other more than a week, but in the myth the chances of Heraclês falling in love with his wife Megara are low. Heraclês did not even want to marry Megara, Megara was given to Herâcles as a gift. However, the Disney movie could not add this because it did not show true love. It did not represent the type of true love society is used to. Furthermore, Heraclês killed his wife and children in the myth. Disney could not add this to the movie because it did not how true love. In fact, that showed madness and hatred. As a matter of fact, this goes the same for Zeus and his many wives in the myth. Zeus being with many women shows that he does not really love them, but could be interpreted as him using the women. As a result, Disney took this scene out to avoid turning the topic away from true love in the movie.
