Comparing and contrasting social, political, and economic norms. When doing my research things that really stuck out to me were amount of materials such as oil and electericity that the US uses. The United States consume 2.4822 gallons of oil while Taiwan consumes 1.4154 and Bosnia and Herzegovina consumes 0.2982. When it comes to electricity the United states consumes a total of 12,185kWh while on the contrary Bosnia consumes 3,259kWh. Those statistics really brought to my attention how much we use and how it is an issue. Although we do have a much larger population, as a nation we could work on better ways to become more efficient. Bosnians on average will most likely die 3.23 years sooner. Amra had mentioned how due to poor health care people tend to not worry about how long of a life they will live, and care more about living in the moment. Both Bosnia and Taiwan had a much lower murder rate, which could be due to many reason. As the population grows the consern of over capacity is on the forfront of many nations. While America seems to keep having babies many countries including Bosnia and Taiwan have between 33%-36% fewer babies. As I wrote down differences and similiarlites I found that gender roles was the most contiversal. Both Bosnia and Taiwan had very similar gender roles and expectations. Amra and Rachel both noted how they believe this is due to the historical background of their countries. This could also be due to a lower birth rate. Which allows the parents to focus and raising less children more traditional views. In the U.S. you tend to see parents raising multiple children, while both working, and not having as much time to focus on each
