The United states is filled with different cultures and beliefs. Every major city in specific states has immigrants from different countries. For example, South Florida such as Miami has a lot of residents from South America such as Colombians, Brazilians, Venezuelan’s are the most common people you see in Miami. In addition, New York is a good example of having Italian and Puerto Rican immigrants also the Irish coming from Ireland to live either in New York or Boston, Massachusetts. California and Texas on the other hand has a lot of people from Central America such as Mexicans, Hondurans, El Salvadorians, and Guatemalans. It’s safe to say that the United States is very diverse, but yet there is still a lot of racism against people that are …show more content…
For example, before moving to North Carolina for 3 years, I always told asked myself “how are Hispanics minorities?” on day to day basis I saw Hispanics all over Miami, I honestly thought all of America was like this. I traveled to different states when I was younger but as a tourist. Therefore, I never really thought about how different cultural wise it was from Miami. Once I moved to North Carolina and saw on daily basis how different it was from Miami, I felt like I was in a different world. There were a lot of Caucasians and African Americans, that’s when I realized Hispanics really are minorities. For a couple of months, I tried finding a job but it was pretty difficult. I was beginning to think it’s because of my Hispanic background. For sure people say “oh you’re bilingual it’ll be a lot simple for you to find a job”, yeah right. On the contrary, it was difficult for me to find a job that I just gave up looking for a job and decided to stay home until we moved back to Miami, where I know I won’t be discriminated and be able to find a job. While living in North Carolina, there would be days that my husband and I would go out to places and once we walked into a place filled with Caucasians, it felt like all eyes were on
