Despite the differences between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, they share an important component that contributes to their success. Offering excellent guest service to our guests is what keeps the magic alive along with the themes in each line of business. Having cast members with a friendly and welcoming smile willing to help in each line of business makes the Disney experience so much better for our guests. My In-Park Competency Experience made me realize how important our interactions with our guests' are and how it can affect their whole stay at Disneyland/Disney California Adventure. My group was assigned New Orleans Square and Buena Vista Street, where we observed how guest service played a big role in our guest experience.

The custodial cast member in Buena Vista was more interactive, friendly, and made an effort to give us directions. While the custodial in New Orleans Square was more focused on her job or maybe was not as personable that she did not seem so helpful or approachable. I would recommend the custodial from New Orleans Square to acknowledge guests more, look more friendly and willing to help. For the most part, attraction cast member played a really good role in making the Disney experience a magical one. The cast member in Buena Vista tried to give out as much information as he could and make the ride a memorable one. The cast member in the Haunted Mansion kept the theme alive and tried to make it a real experience. I would recommend attractions to improve in acknowledging guests as individuals and not as a group of people. My least favorite line of business was merchandise because one of the cast members was unwelcoming and unfriendly. In New Orleans Square, the cast member seemed to be irritated, which made the store experience negative. In Buena Vista Street, the cast member was very friendly and even showed us a limited edition collection,

The most recent college sporting event I have attended is the 2017 PAC 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, which is the annual concluding tournament for the NCAA college basketball in the PAC 12 Conference. The dates for this four day tournament were March 8-11, 2017, the times varied for different sessions and rounds with the earliest game starting at 12pm PT and the latest game starting at 8:30pm PT. The first round and quarterfinal round both consisted of four games each, while the semifinal round had two games and the final round of course one game. This event was hosted at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The target audience I believe were college basketball fans, especially fans of the PAC 12 conference.…

Throughout history, in all forms of life, there has been one undeniable trend that has evolved and altered but still remained one of the basic necessities of life, eating. In Kristen J. Gremillion’s Ancestral Appetite: Food in Prehistory she sets up the history of eating, what and how people have eaten in the past few million years and her theory on how that has led to modern diets. As this work is set up in chronological order, Gremillion points out the major inventions, events, and changes to the world that added to the growth and evolution of the modern humans diet. With the help of archeological sites, wide range of sciences, and the known history, Kristen Gremillion attempts to prove that biology, culture, and invention are the reasons that people eat what they eat.
