There are many different cultures that exist in our current society. Many cultural conflicts in the past have led to superiority of cultures over others, which has resulted in slavery in some cases. This leads to the concept of cultures, clashes, communities and freedom. These concepts can be conveyed through many different ideas in texts. The two texts The astonishing life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation by M.T. Anderson and The Arrival by Shaun Tan, convey the ideas of cultural difference and isolation which display perceptions on cultures, clashes, communities and freedom.
One idea presented in these texts which is relevant to the concept of cultures, clashes, communities and freedom is cultural differences. The cultural difference that is present in these texts shows the concept of contrast in cultures as well as possible conflicts and clashes that exist between particular races.
