Colonization is the forming of a settlement or colony by a group of people of a different nation, who seek to take control of territories or countries. It usually involves large-scale immigration of people to a 'new' location and the expansion of their civilization and culture into this area. They soon totally take control of the land, politics, and people of that original country. The colonizer is the nation who does the colonizing or taking over of another land and its people. The colonized are the persons being taken over by the colonizer.
Post colonial criticism has a unique perspective and though it may be similar to cultural studies, it has to be studied independently. Post-colonial criticism also takes the form of literature composed by authors that critique Euro-centric hegemony (Wikipedia). Post colonial criticism is concerned with the literature written solely by the colonizers and the colonized.
