I have learned that cultural competency is an essential component in quality health care. Racial and ethnic minorities usually suffer from higher rates of disease, disability and death. These health disparities can be alleviated through improving health providers' communication skills and their ability to accept cultural diversity of patients/clients. Cultural competency is a number of behaviors that come together to improve work outcomes when the provider and client have different cultures. The purpose of cultural competency in health care is to maximize health outcomes and to deliver the highest quality of care to every patient/client regardless of his/her socio-cultural background.
As I am seeking to get registered as a physiotherapist
