Cultural Competency And Social Diversity

If I would have been a social worker in the Department of Human Services at this time I would have done several things differently. If one of my coworkers stated that they had a new client from another country I would first ask them what they know about the culture. I would ask this because ways of life depend on what part of the world you are from. I would want my coworkers and agency to work with and handle these cases with respect and dignity. If they did not know anything about their culture I would suggest they look in the library or google how things are handled in the family’s home country. This is also reflected in the code of ethics. In section 1.05 of the code of ethics titled cultural competency and social diversity it states: (a)
