This quote should be the representation of how all people should feel when it comes to cultural awareness. Different cultures should want to know about other cultures that could help to cut out some of the confusion in the world. Cultural awareness is to bring about knowledge of a particular culture. It is very important and goes along with the respect that they have for one another. “You must wait to be told where to sit because there are strict procedures that are to be followed” (www.everyculture.com, n.d). The oldest person is the one who is served first and Is also the one who begins the eating process, meaning no one can eat until the oldest at the table has begun to eat. When using chopsticks, there is proper etiquette that you should follow as well. You are not allowed to play with your chopsticks at the table, so that means no piercing any food with them or point with your chopsticks while you are speaking. It can also be seen as disrespectful if you do not finish everything on your plate. “Once you are finished with everything on your plate, you must place your chopsticks on the chopstick rest or on the table, they are never to go parallel across your plate” (www.eveyculture.com, n.d). By following these table manners, you are being a part of the South Korean culture, and you can see why they are such as important part of the South Korean culture. One of the dishes that are surrounded by their culture is kimchi and rice. This is one of their staple dishes are is sometimes eaten everyday, they may add to it by adding another vegetable or meat.
