Then training drills are planned to practice safe practices. Darby Fire Company takes advantage and applies for at least two grants every year. Each year a different need is assessed and a grant application is written. By applying for a grant, in the spring of 2016, Darby received a grant to purchase a Plymovent Vehicle Exhaust Removal System for their two trucks. Darby Fire Company also receives grants in the amount of approximately $10,000 for the fire division and $15,000 for the EMS division each year to offset costs. Standardized response policies that follow the same protocols as all neighboring fire companies are utilized by Darby Fire Company. For example, the order in which each apparatus responds and the roles designated to each apparatus, are standard among the area companies.
