More than 30 people are killed violently each day in the United States in a variety of ways and in multiple areas regardless of the socioeconomic status of those areas. Right now in our country, guns, racism, and poverty are blamed for much of the violence. However, most of our society overlooks another cause of violent activity in America. Cults. Over 100 cults are here in America, and they conduct mass suicides and other acts of violence creating danger to our country. Cults are as bad as the negative connotation associated with it makes it seem.

Cults can range from a few members to hundreds of members in the group. If there are more people, this could mean more power. Such as in the cult group Scientology. They have been known to brainwash people, conduct in acts of fraud, and have had attempts at financial ruin. Many groups will also claim that suicide will bring them to the other side. As stated in the article “10 of the Most Dangerous Cults”, “All worshippers would ascend into heaven.” (Grafenstein) This shows how the people have been brainwashed into thinking it would all be okay with they committed suicide because they would go to heaven. Groups were also against social elite. Such as the People’s Temple, which resulted in them assassinating the Us Congressmen. Another group, known as the Ku Klux Klan, were a group of about 4 million members. They were religious extremists, as they were a very secretive cult.
