In today’s society, majority of the people don’t follow their passion; they just do. The definition of the word passion is “strong and barely controllable emotion.” Many people can be passionate for their family, job, career, or even something that make a difference in our community. In my life, the word passion is characterized by the love of my family, the outstanding culinary arts program in my high school, and the belief of my religion. The love of my family is a key quality in my definition of passion. As you grow older, the love for anything extends more because you are capable of understanding things more. My passion for food has increased so much by attending my high school. The school offers a culinary arts program and they are certified by ProStart Certification, which is a very important certification to have when working in this field, and within a yearly span we are assigned banquets, functions, dinners, and competitions. The year of 2014, my first year attending this school, I was honored by being chosen to compete in a culinary competition, Skills USA. I knew that this was an enormous role to be apart because it meant that I had to represent my school when we travel to local colleges to compete against regional schools that also participated in this unique event. The first competition I ever did was the hardest out of all the ones but the result of it led me to take first place which was outstanding achieve in my life. By taking first place, I practiced for many months leading for the scary uneasy day, but I knew I had to show off my skills to not only to the judges and other competitors but mainly to my mentor/role model, who was my teacher, Chef Holloway. I will always remember his name because he inspired me more every single day I walked into his class. The best feeling he would give me is the feeling of confidence; he would continuously told me this program is my passion and if I stick my head into this field than my career would be amazing. Hearing those words made me feel proud and great because I knew someone had confidence for me even though there would be times I didn’t have confidence in myself. Within the past two years, I have competed in seven competitions and the results of the competitions led me to take first in vast

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. “to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived” This excerpt from “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau speaks of a life unlived when it's nearing too late. Thoreau writes about living every day as if it were your last, taking in every chance to enrich and define yourself. How pursuing even the most simple of passions could prove to be worthwhile. I agree in the possibility that it is never too late to do what you’ve dreamt of and bring new perspective when looking into the horizon. When you genuinely love doing something it becomes your passion, but if fear or fear of regret impact your decisions it can be easily regretted.…
