Cuckoo's Nest Book Vs Movie

Improved Essays
Although we have not finish watching the movie completely, as of now, I favor the book over the movie. I find many of the major aspects in the book lost within the movie.

First of all, the movie is has no first person narrator. The main character still remains as McMurphy but the significance of Chief Bromden is lost. He is played out as a minor character in the movie. Since Chief had been in the ward for a while he had a lot of good insight on the situation at the wart. A lot of that insight was lot in the movie. In addition, aspects of his mental illness was lost. Often times in the book Chief saw fog or would describe the Nurse and the outside world as a machine. The imagery in the book really helped reader step into the shoes of the patients.

Each event was described clearly, whereas in the film many were left out or unspoken of. Therefore, I have given various examples as to why the book was better than the film, along with the major similarities and differences of the…

The film version of the ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, is not only known for winning Academy Awards for the several categories, it was also known for its casting cinematic appearances. The film version, though retaining most of the novel’s motifs and themes, possesses differences from the novel in significant ways. Although there film exhibits pronounced differences from the content of the novel, it retains the natural verses the institutional themes, the creative nonconformity battle against the autocratic and arbitrary authority, the redemptive qualities related to unrepressed sexuality as well as the desultory effects resulting from unbalanced feminine dominance. In the comparison between the endings of the storyline, there exists differences…

I think that the movie is better than the book because the movie has more light and there is music. And the book does not have light or music you have to make a picture in your mind. They are alike because they both say the same things. Marley was dead to begin with and the clock went to the other direction and the hour clock rang for 1:00 and then he went back to sleep then there was a person standing there it was a women that Marley warned of. Like when it said this that old Marley was as dead as a doornail.…

The last possible reason for not including Chief Bromden’s narration may be because the Douglas and Forman wanted to portray McMurphy as the main character and the hero of the story. In the novel, Chief Bromden serves as the main character since the story is told from his account and the reader sees the change within him internally. The reader sees that before Chief Bromden was hidden in Nurse Rachet’s fog and did not believe that he could escape. After McMurphy entered the ward, he helped Chief Bromden speak and Bromden ultimately felt that he was able to escape the ward. In the film, Chief Bromden only speaks two lines.…

Mark Georgie Mindov Ms. Pushkin English 1102 Due 4 October 2017 Comparison/Contrast Research Paper Assignment Fiction, non-fiction, crime, mystery, action etc., books and movies have many various aspects to what they could be, because of the difference between each genre. The era and the setting of the plot can affect the story and feel of the book. For example, if someone changed an action book into a love story some parts would have to be changed and aspects of romance would need to be added, but if you changed the action movie’s time that its set in almost everything would change, from the way they spoke, and even the actions they took. Every book must be placed somewhere in time; if it consists flying cars and space, that would be the…

However, it does not allow the audience to get an inside view of what is actually going on in the minds of the patients. The biggest amendment that was made between the movie and the novel was the narration. The audience was not able to get an inside look on what was actually going through the patients minds and what they were experiencing at the time. Also, the idea of the Combine was not brought up, which was an essential part of the novel, and a message Kesey wanted to give off to the readers, because of its application to the real world. Because of this difference, the movie version can be viewed as more of a storyline, rather than a piece of art with a message to give off.…

There are some differences between what the movie talks about and what the book talks about of the story “The Freedom Writers.” Me personally i think that the movie is better because i am seeing it with my own eyes. Psychology underpins sentient consciousness, sustaining healthy growth and hence shaping individuals; infiltrating all areas of life. This belief sustains my ever-growing interest in the field, drawing my attention to many variables that may affect how (and why) people think, act, react and interact in certain ways. This very interest has resulted in my explicit concern regarding all aspects of behaviour, especially that of ritual and coping mechanisms. I aspire to use said belief, interest and concerns to join the questioning and search for answers regarding the psyche.…

Ironically due to the storyline; the book is better than the movie, because it is shows better description, character analysis, and it gets the point across to the reader to show what leads up to the main idea.
