Thanks for the note.
We had gone to Cuba on vacation with the family where Internet connection is a challenge and surfing the Internet is expensive. When we came back, I came down with diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and severe back pain and thought it was going to go away after a few days. However, it got worse and had to be rushed to the ER for observation and treatment. I then traveled to the UK to see my elder sister who was hospitalized and waiting for neck surgery. I only came back two days ago.

Tears of joy streaming down my aunt's face, being squeezed by relatives for group pictures, tropical heat causing sweat to form in the small of my back; Regardless of how uncomfortable it is to step out of my comfort zone, my family's annual trips to Cuba are something I've always looked forward to. In the year of 1999, I was born in Cabaiguán, Cuba. If it had been up to my mother, I would have been born in the United States. Immigration laws required us to stay for at least six months after my birth before coming to America. Despite us moving to the United States, my parents always made sure I didn't forget where I came from.…

Once I had arrived, I announced myself with an excited “Hello!”…

I credit the development of my personal values to my caring family and Cuban culture. My family was blessed with earning entrance into America through the Diversity Visa lottery in 1998. My father was a factory worker in the countryside when he began his personal rebellion against communism. He spent a year's gathering materials and hand building a house for him and my mother to move into, postponing their marriage until the project was finished, just to have it taken away by the regime. Emigrating to the U.S. was overall a difficult operation, especially as a first generation from my family to do so.…

Such as their culture, historical architecture, food, dancing, music, art, natural landmarks, etc. I am trying to raise money so that my two mothers who already pay for so many soccer tournaments, training camps, and various other activities do not have to pay for such a huge expensive trip by themselves.…

I have always loved the magnificent country that we live in, but after researching about Cuban’s desiring to migrate to this great land, I have realized how much I have taken for granted all that the Lord has blessed us with. Unfortunately, not all people groups are blessed in such a way, and this fact had been made clear to me when I looked into what Cubans need to live through, and do for their families in order to survive. Based off the few articles that I had looked into, it was clear that there are different types of people living in Cuban; people who feel hopeless to the point that they would build their own raft to float across the ocean, and others who feel like Cuba is their homeland, and they know it is where they want to stay (Silva).…

It was an early Monday morning, I was pretty happy at the time because this trip was going to get me out of a full week of school. So, it all began at the airport, looking out of the window I could see our plane, It was a bit intimidating and I was really nervous because this was going to be my first time on a plane. Nevertheless, I had nothing to worry about though because soon enough I would come to realize that, the time I would be spending in Puerto Rico would teach me to truly enjoy the great experiences in life. So we were off, I could not wait to begin my adventure in Puerto Rico and meet all the amazing new people. When my grandmother and I landed in Puerto Rico I had no idea what I was in for, we planned the trip last minute and had no plans when we got there, or so that's what I anticipated.…
