They tried to get rid of Castro but they failed and were humiliated by Cuba. This cause the US to put an embargo on Cuba. The US tried to gain control of Cuba again. They started the Bay of Pigs. It’s when the US sent about 100’s of Cuban Americans to Cuba to start a revolt against Castro. The revolt was put down swiftly by Castro. It failed badly in the national spotlight. This made America look weak to the world and democracy as a joke. This angered the US, so they put an embargo on Cuba. The embargo stated that the US won’t trade with Cuba, or any country/business that trades with Cuba. They put an embargo on Cuba hoping that they would fall apart economically. The US and Cuba are currently talking about restoring their relationship. They are talking about letting US citizens visit Cuba and vice versa. Another group in support of this is Cuban Americans. They want to visit and communicate with family members that still live in Cuba. Most politicians agree. The “Democrats are 83 percent in support.
