The sinking of the USS Indianapolis was one of America’s greatest naval tragedies as the Indianapolis was one of the flagship ships of the navy at the time as well as one of the fastest. On July 30th of 1945, at 4 minutes past midnight, on the route between Guam and Leyte Gulf, known as “Convoy Route Peddie,” the ship was hit by two of the six torpedoes that were fired at it by the I-58, a Japanese submarine. Ultimately only 317 men survived and were rescued in different groups at different distances away from the initial sinking. The captain of the ship Captain Charles McVay III was court-martialed, which was highly criticized by many; however, nothing was done about it until Hunter Scott and various survivors, politicians, and average citizens moved to have this court-martial repealed.…

Of the several amazing performers showed in the film, I choose to watch and describe DJ Shadow’s performance. One of the first times DJ Shadow shows up in the video is during the jam session with DJ Q-Bert, DJ Relm, and DJ Flare. When it was not his turn to show off his style and moves, DJ Shadow listened to the others around him, and even bopped his head to the beat and groove of the other turntablists. When it was DJ Shadow’s turn, he used a style of very fast-paced scratching and fader movements. He would move one of the records back and forth in rapid succession to get coarse, sharp scratches but they still worked with the beat.…

Have you found that life can be a struggle? Mine rarely drifts along with the perfection of my dreams or to the sweet songs we hear on the radio. The struggle is deeper than we normally think. The usual view of our struggle has been that we are fighting against flesh and blood, against other people. But the Apostle Paul says the battle is not against flesh and blood; it is much deeper than that.…

Cowritten by Childish Gambino and Ludwig Göransson in 2012 for Childish Gambino’s album Camp, “Heartbeat” narrates a dysfunctional relationship that cannot be salvaged despite the poetic voice’s desire to do so. [con’t] “Heartbeat” is visibly a song full of confusion, which the narrative voice decides to pass on to the reader as well. Instead of offering full insight for the reader, the reader is forced to follow along with the confusion and stress being felt by the poetic voice. With lyrics such as “I wanted you to know” (Childish Gambino 1) and “I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick” (Childish Gambino 61), the usage of the words “you” and “your” makes the reader infer that the song’s audience is meant to be the female subject. With this…

The 80’s was a time for the teens to be teens. The 80’s saw a huge wave of teen flicks having not only to be known to have the most of them, but to have them in spades. I just did some research to look at a list of all the 80’s teen movies there were and it was at about 62, where I had stopped looking. I then decided to look at the other decades. The 70’s era of teen movies had maybe an average of one a year, while the 90’s and 80’s had at most 2 a year.…

By asking the questions that aide his ethos, he enables the song to create a sense of communal grief, which was his goal, and aiding his listeners to get over the incident. He extends the overall question of “where were you?” to both celebrities and the common American, in asking them to contemplate their reaction.
