Cruise To The Caribbean Short Story

Improved Essays
My story all starts one night when my fiancée and I were heading to dinner to meet up with some friends. Little did I know we were going to be convincing me to go on a cruise to the Caribbean. Now I’m by all means a home-body. I don't like to be out of my comfort zone and being in a large boat in the middle of the ocean is defiantly out of my comfort zone. So eventually they convince me that it's a good idea and I get to work on getting my passport since I never planned on leaving the lower 48.
So that's all done and the weeks leading up to our departure time I’m filled with anxiety, I’m nervous about making the 10 and a half hour drive to Charleston South Carolina . It’s all a new experience for me and I’m not sure what to expect or what

The weather throughout was not very glamorous no different than when we had left the states cloudy, gloomy, windy and rainy which was more than a bummer. I was missing home and wanted nothing more than to turn around and go home, I wasn't enjoying myself by any means. Then we docked in Nassau and it was a little nicer weather ways not to different but things were looking up, I was off the boat , thankfully. Nassau had looked similar to Charleston and I was surprised . there were no colonel buildings but there was a large tourist market and the buildings were vibrant and neon colors. So little did I know we had planned an excursion, it’s where we do some kind of mini adventure, the cruise line recommends them and you book with them. Now we were to take another boat ride to a coral reef and scuba dive. This was wear I had to really keep it together cause I’m afraid of water that I cant touch the bottom in and swimming in the ocean is not like swimming in the pool. The waves beat against you it's a work out . So we get all suited up and everyone is ready to jump in the water, its not as clear as they would like you to imagine but its defiantly better than anything I have seen. So we jump in and I’m looking at all the fish and the plants below me, I am wearing a life jacket of course, and I think this isn’t so bad it might make the trip worth it. It was breathtaking to see all the fish so close you could almost touch them and all the different colors. Then I gulp down some seawater and panic and my fiancée calms me down, cause I was ready to go back into the boat after that. We got to see some celebrity houses it was really cool once I found that I had just relaxed and calmed down that I was actually having fun . Our time on the excursion was short but it was surprisingly pleasant

The Dominican Republic In October of 2016 I went on an amazing vacation to the Dominican Republic. We were going with my Dad’s side of the family so there there 14 people that went including my Grandma Neicy, Papa Kelly, Aunts Kiley and Annika, Uncle Aaron, Chris, my cousins Charley, Marley, and Bowen, and of course my Mum, Dad, brother Cade, and sister Keira. We started the trip with a whole day of traveling, kicking it off at 6:30 am. We went to Atlanta as our connecting flight, then we were finally on our way to the D.R. Of course most of the plane ride from the US to the Dominican was mostly over water, so there wasn’t much of a view.…

It’s late at night and I feel very hungry, I really don’t want to wake up anyone in the house so I just sneak out of my room to the kitchen. With my stomach grumbling, I open the fridge and take out a chocolate milk carton. I look around to make sure I haven’t woken anyone up and I took a long quenching drink directly from the milk carton. I then close the carton and put it back in the refrigerator.…

Over the years I have experienced both severe anxiety and depression. When I found my self in the middle of an anxiety attack I always tried to get away from everyone and just close my eyes to imagine my safe place, the place where my anxiety and depression did not suffocate me. This place I envisioned for myself is the same place I still find myself going back to in my mind, even today for example when I learned one of my classes might prevent me from going to pharmacy school in the fall. My special place is on the Coney Island beach under the pier. Usually when I take myself to this place, it isnt the dirty, moldy beach that we see when we go to Coney Island but it is absolutely beautiful.…
