The key difference between him and Hale though is that while Hale is trying to rectify his mistakes, Danforth has decided that it is too late to try to fix what he’s done. Late in the play, Danforth has hurt and killed numerous people. As he is speaking with Hale about sparing seven people including Proctor and Rebecca Nurse, the reader sees his twisted angle of seeing matters. “You misunderstand sir; I cannot pardon these when twelve are already hanged for the same crime. It is not just” (Miller 1158). Because Danforth is unwilling to change his ways and admit that he is in the wrong he dooms another seven people. And remember, this wasn’t the first time. Most of these characters would be willing to do anything to protect what they care about even though it hurts people or does something worse. This topic is important because many people don’t understand their actions or how it could potentially affect someone. Many times this ends in a negative way. Since people are becoming sensitive to more and more subjects than ever before, it’s important to be aware of the impacts. Hopefully, as a society, we can move forward united, rather than broken
