A journey of a protagonist is often seen ending victorious due to proper moral teachings growing them as a person throughout their quest. The film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade demonstrates how guidance from a god-teacher during Indiana’s quest for the Holy Grail motivates proper morals that ultimately leads to a positive outcome. Elsa Schneider chooses to take on the quest for the Holy Grail with no god-teacher, she only has the example of greed and manipulation that is set by the Nazis which causes her to act immoral. Indiana Jones, on the other hand, is influenced by his father, Henry Jones Sr. on the quest for the Grail where he supports Indiana as a god-teacher through ultimately leaving him a moral character at the end of their quest.…

Journal 5: What is appealing to me regarding Chinese films is the very heavy use of some form of martial arts in most of their films. While I was looking on Google trying to figure out what movie I should watch for this journal, I notice while rea ding the descriptions, that most of the films dealt with some kind of martial arts training. Additionally, what I also found appealing while looking at which movies to watch, was how most of the films were set back in time and the movies were mainly set back to the early 19th century.…

Inglourious Basterds is a critically acclaimed historical revenge fantasy movie that uses 1944 Nazi Germany to shed light on the biased American view of World War II, following the works of Friedlander and Rosenfield. The movie uses Nazi Germany as a setting, but unlike the mainstream and kitschy Nazi Germany movies, it rewrites the history of the end of World War II, therefore posing the question of “what if?” to the audience. The movie carefully causes the audience to question themselves and leads to a hypercritical reflection of both the audience and their view of the end of World War II. All of the serious and critical reflection is glazed over, however, with slapstick humor and parody the director, Tarantino is known for in movies like…
