Crossfit has become a fast growing trend in today’s society. The physical training that athlete’s go through is tough and course and it takes heart and will to complete each workout. Crossfit requires usage of our aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. People misunderstand Crossfit and believe that it is only for people like bodybuilders. When, in reality, anyone who wants to and is willing to work hard can do Crossfit. Crossfit focuses on 10 physical skills. Those skills are “cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, accuracy, agility, balance, and stamina”. (Barba, 2005) Crossfit is an example of aerobic training. Aerobic training is dependent upon ATP production as well as using oxygen. People think that Crossfit can damage their health just with their participation. The reason behind so many injuries in Crossfit is form and lack of explanation. Most boxes have coaches explain and demonstrate the movements before the athlete’s participate. Crossfit WODS (workout of the day) are designed to challenge athletes and help them to build their aerobic training standing. These workouts do not intend to cause harm. The only ways to injure you in Crossfit is to either have incorrect form or to overdo it during the workout.
