The Benefits of Exercising in a CrossFit Gym According to Alex Stewart of Body Building.com, "Over the years, a program has grown in popularity from coast to coast that has generated a lot of buzz from doctors, fitness experts, personal trainers, professional athletes and more." This program is called CrossFit. CrossFit is a highly intense fitness program and competitive sport, having a CrossFit Games every year, hosted by Reebok, with over 9,000 "boxes"(CrossFit slang for the gym) worldwide. It uses a variety of workout methods fit into a one hour time span: strength training, cardio, and running. There are many benefits of exercising at a CrossFit, a trending fitness center chain and combative sport, including being functionally fit, creating relationships, and better overall health. One of the most important gains of being a Crossfitter is becoming functionally fit. CrossFit is all about being able to carry all of your own groceries to your apartment, or being able to sprint into work when you're running late. It is also good to learn how to lift heavy things up and overhead to decrease your risk of injury when you are lifting things outside of the gym. When you see someone almost everyday, you are practically forced to converse or become friendly with one another. The CrossFit community is very supportive. There will always be someone to give you a word of encouragement or the push you need, whether it's a coach or a fellow athlete.the friendly competition between you and others could make you do things you didn't think you could ever do. According to Rodale Wellness, "Everyone there supports each other and pushes each other, and there is always a sense of friendly competition."
