Cross Sectional Study On Leadership Behavior

The cross-sectional study presents information on leadership behaviors and difference in behaviors of head athletic trainers and program directors. The study consisted of 238 athletic training leaders who completed the web-based survey of self-reported leadership behaviors. Laurent and Bradney found that head athletic trainers and program directors differ in leadership behaviors due to external pressures from the accreditation process and external review process. The leadership behaviors of the head athletic trainers in the study were found to have similar behaviors as other professionals. The similar leadership behavior is transformational leadership. Transformational leadership is future focused with high standards while gaining the trust of others through mentorship, encouragement, and empowering others. Transformation leadership improves the quality of the work environment by transforming attitudes, values, and behaviors by communicating a shared vision with others. Their leadership behaviors influence the actions of others through modeling, inspiring, challenging, enabling, and encouraging. (Laurent & Bradney, 2007) …show more content…
