This experiment is measuring to see if there is a correlation between the teenager’s addictions and the parent’s addiction. Among the participants who had entered a local treatment program of substance abuse related issues in Keyport, New Jersey Center.
The parent and teen’s assessments will be reviewed closely. Reviewing these assessments carefully, will determine if the parent and teen have a connection in substance abuse. These assessments will be able to identify if the parent and teen engaged in the same substance usage, when they started, and the severity level. If a parent and teenager engaged in the same substance around a similar time frame, and has higher severity level they both have a correlation between them.
A qualitative-quantitative interview was taking place with a number of ten individuals. There were interviews conducted by psychologists at the Endeavor House Treatment Center. All specialists will remain in the room to record all information necessary. There will be two reaction time measurements made within the study. At the end of the assessment, scores will be given 1 point for each question containing the answer “yes”. The points that are added will determine the severity of the substance abuse user. Since this assessment is a written test, computers or other electronic devices are not needed for performing or analyzing the written assessment.
This assessment will be checked for validity and reliability by also interpreting a short interview with each individual. This assessment and interview will be able to indicate the awareness that inclusion of the custom-designed assessment. This assessment will be able to look at both answers from parents and teens to determine if there is a connection between the parent and teenager’s addiction.
All assessments were evaluated by two substance abuse specialists and the authorized validity was confirmed. The DAST-20, and AUDIT assessment was used to identify the teenager’s choice of substance that was being abused, and seeing if it is similar to the teenager’s parent. All dependent variable data will be collected when all assessments are scored, and categorized at a severity level. If levels between both parent and teenager were high, studies showed there was a correlation between the two
