What many think of as “bad for the environment” is the idea of genetically engineering crops and an unnatural process which could cause negative effects on the soils. But, in actuality, according to the article “The Environmental Impact of GMOs” from Onegreenplanet.org, those aren’t the main concerns of scientists. The main and probably biggest concern is the toxins (especially from the pesticides) within the GMOs themselves and the effects those toxins may inherently have on insect and animals. The article tells us that “GMOs may be toxic to non-target organisms, bees and butterflies being the most talked about”. This is plenty cause for concern since the importance of bees (and believe it or not) butterflies is to pollinate the Earth and the plants we need to survive. Without these two insects the world would be a completely different place, hence why there are now organizations around the globe whose main objective is to protect bees/butterflies and keep them from going
