In eastern and western culture, a woman wearing a man’s shirt is considered attractive opposed to a man wearing a dress. In western culture, a man dressing as a woman is considered going down a gendered social order (revolvy). Furthermore, in response, transgender advocacy groups continue to fight for changes in gender specific film roles for men. Also, men and women watchers are getting tired of the comedies of cross-dressing, gender roles in men and women.
All in all are movies similar to Some Like it Hot truly funny. The answer depends on each person’s perspective on male and female roles. In general, still, there is a social bias for men and women. At the end of the movie the classic line “Nobody’s Perfect” leaves the viewer to put the meaning of the film into their context. Viewers claim they are ready for a fresh new approach to cross gender roles. Viewers have yet not put their opinion in action. If viewers and film critics look at cross dressing objectively in film, theatre, and literature, perhaps subjective views may dissipate therefore an awakening of a new art movement may be on the horizon blending both male and female roles with ambiguity perhaps androgyny may be the answer.
