“Cross-curricular” is a buzzword my teachers use every year. However, I never understood what “cross-curricular” entailed until I experienced it myself. Junior year, I took both chemistry and biology, and our discussion about water in biology caused me to recall our chemistry lesson about intermolecular forces. Since then, finding all of the interrelated subjects in chemistry and biology has been an exciting scavenger hunt leading me to engineering. I see engineering as a true cross- curricular major, as it encompasses all of science and math. Yet simply learning and getting a bachelors in any discipline of engineering is not enough for me. What matters is what I am able to do with the knowledge I have acquired, that means sharing this knowledge and applying it in leadership and research. …show more content…

When the name “Case Western Reserve University” is mentioned, a myriad of subjects come to mind: research, science, engineering, breakthroughs, and technology, to name a few. In our great university, there seems to be a wider appreciation among students for the sciences than for the humanities -- this does not come as a surprise considering that CWRU is primarily a research university, and faculty and students have been conducting magnificent and ground-breaking scientific research for decades. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics departments are so nationally recognized and prominently discussed that they often overshadow the humanities departments. However, if I could recommend an elective course to my brilliant science and…

Education has always been a part of my life. Long before my first day of kindergarten, my family’s love of learning has heavily influenced me. My maternal grandfather told me stories of people in places long ago with the same excitement and joy when I was five as he did when I was fifteen. I savor every moment I spend in my Uncle’s living room, their cozy furniture and reading lamps a mere practicality, while the books lining every shelf stole the spotlight. At nearly every stage in my elementary schooling, my mom inspired me to persevere and fought alongside me.…
