As described above there are a lot of cross-cultural issues and cultural differences which create conflicts between Shawler and the Koreans. Some possible options for Shawler to take in mind will be addressed.

Slow down

One option for Shawler is to slow down, as his friend Min Bahn said then he went to him for advice. Shawler doesn 't have the same goals and ambitions as the team and the President. By slowing down, that could make their goals and ambitions to slowly move towards each other. As mentioned earlier the people in Essilor Korean neither enjoy risk taking or want to change. They don 't want to focus on being the number one branded lens company in Korea at the moment, they have a more long-term view while Shawler have a

It 's also important for Shawler to have a good relationship with the President if he wants to change things and get things done. At the moment, they don 't have a good relationship because Shawler offended him at the beginning of his time at Essilor Korea, making the President loss face. To salvage their relationship he should show consideration and respect to him, and be loyal. This is very important in the Korean Culture. He should also ask for forgiveness and ask if they could start from scratch. Shawler must show and tell the President that he values their relationship, and that he wants them to trust and communicate with each other. Shawler who is from a Low-Context culture feels that he don 't get enough information and are more likely to not ask questions, as mentioned earlier. Instead for not asking any questions he should arrange a meeting with his team and the President to work things out. On the meeting, he should ask the participants to be open and "put their cards on the table" to discuss and solve their problems together. By learning about the other culture, Shawler could learn about for example that he needs to be a friendly autocratic leader to get respected. Or that a solution to make the team come with ideas could be to not have a leader in the meeting room to make them feel comfortable to come with
