Cross Country Team Member Analysis

Speed kills. Nice to say our Cross Country team is killing it this season. I Interviewed the team captain,Tylik Lucas, to talk about the season. Let’s see what he has to say. What is the strength of Spotsy’s Cross Country team? Well the strength is, running together as a team,in unity. What are the weaknesses? Well the weaknesses are, for everyone to focus and run their pace. The team prepares for a meet by hydrating, eating a healthy meal before(mostly carbs like pizza), and listening to music. The team celebrates a victory by tweeting out and verbally. The team goes to Snack Shack for team bonding.
Tylik has been on the team for 4 years. Tylik has been captain for 1 year, this year being his first. When asked “How did you become captain?”

When other teammates choose not to show up to practice, this influenced our team in a negative way. Poor productivity at practice became evident when it came time for our games. However, good practices and hard work brought a high level of cohesiveness.…

When leading a team in the future as a leader or manager, I would use the McGregor Theory Y(McGregor, 1960), where I view my team as the most important people, allowing dynamic and flexibility in management. I would be a supportive leader who will give my team direction when needed to achieve our desired goal. Based on Tuckman Model, I would spent time doing up a charter consisting of clear purpose, goals and roles with my team to ensure everyone know what they are supposed to do. I will also be hearing the voices from my team when deciding on the goals and roles. I will set realistic deadlines set for completion of task assignments.…

    1) At the second track meet of the season the sprint track coach decides to mix things up to see how a few runners would do in different events. He put a girl in the 3,000-meter run instead of her normal sprint 100. I definitely think that she would have a moment of terror, especially right before the race when she is waiting for the race to begin. The action of running has not changed, however the distance she would be running increased dramatically.…

From my last 3 years of running cross county I have learned a lot of things. One is that you should never give up, second is that if you work hard enough then you can achieve whatever you put your mind to, and third is how you can go from disliking something to loving something. How I've learned these things from cross county is when I first started cross country, my sophomore year I couldn't run to save my life. Coach would always time us on how fast we could run two miles and I would always be last and be so far behind everyone else which was quite embarrassing but I couldn't help it I had just started and I'd never ran before in my life, at my very first meet I couldn't even run the first mile and I ended up having to drop out. After that I didn't like cross county at all because I wasn't good at it…

Bang, the gun sounds. I sprint out of my box, following teammates in pursuit of the leader. The pack of cross country runners appears to envelop me from my parent’s sight. I hurdle toward the first flag, passing competitors right and left. All the rest is a blur, just the pounding of my heart and the thumping of feet as I run, breathing heavier and heavier, twisting and turning through the trails to reach the chute.…

The sport of cross country running has been a part of my life since I started running in the 7th grade. And as I have grown older my love of the sport has only grown to the point where running is by far my biggest passion. So today I am writing to you with the hope of sharing this passion of cross country running with your school by becoming the Varsity Cross Country Coach of the Lakewood Vikings. I would be a good cross country coach because of my coaching experience, knowledge of training philosophies, and my personal success in the sport. I have been an assistant varsity track coach at Capac High School for the past two seasons, and a third upcoming, with my focus in distance events.…

I finished second to last in thirty minutes. In one short cross country season, my coach inspired me to keep at it, and work hard. I ended the season 35 pounds lighter, 14 minutes faster, and for the first time so proud of my accomplishments that the sting of the auditorium experience almost faded. Mr. Pinkerton said by mid-October he saw my face for the first time because I always looked down. I was motivated to succeed because the words of a bully stung so deeply in my sole.…

The development of successful professional relationships involves harmonising the self and others, which serves as the basis of forming effective teams that drive towards success and progress (Necsoi, 2015). A team is defined as a group of interdependent individuals with complementing skills and shared goals, and who have been given specific roles to perform (Costa, Passos, & Bakker, 2014). Work engagement and pro-social motivation are important constructs that underlie a successful teamwork, which my team and I have experienced during a recent project on developing intervention strategies for an organisation to promote physical activity among employees at the workplace. Our team consisted of five members and we went through Tuckman’s (1965)…
