The mass of green rushed towards my face in a fast blur. Spikes of pain racked my body as I fought against the dark spots filling my vision. A blur of jerseys passed in front of my eyes. A maroon one grabbed me and pulled me to my feet. I opened my eyes and it hit me. It was all over. Four years of sweat and pain. Early mornings filled with searing lungs and aching legs. Early bedtimes and healthy foods in attempts to enhance performance. All of it over.
Saturday, October 29, 2016. My team and I bounced on the bus for a few hours on the way to Ford Dodge. We sat in silence most of the way. Each of our minds filled with the daunting task of what lay before us. I chatted with some of the guys about the sweet movie we saw at our team meal. But, we all knew that we were here to run our very best. That was the objective of our whole season: to get to state and to get up on the

I found out that I need to trust God with the results. Colossians 3:17 says “Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” It’s not up to me to try and evaluate the outcome of events. I am merely the means of which things can happen. It is my job to do those things to the best of my ability. In this case, it was my job to run that race to the best of my ability. It was not up to me to decide if I did good or not or if I performed on par with other runners. It was up to me to “do it all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” and “give thanks to the Father” for the outcome, regardless of how I felt or others felt about it. Maybe I didn’t run one of the better races of my life. But that does not give me the right to complain about how my life turns out. Running that race that day gave me the right to thank my heavenly Father for four years of healthy running and the ability to finish those years with my team up on the

I was extremely nervous and my hands were sweating so much that a pond was made in my gloves. I maneuvered around the turns at extremely high speeds as a blew by every car I came close to, shooting by like a rocket.…

Cross country’s history is unique and interesting because of how it was created and how some of these traditions are still being used today. There are a couple of concepts that they kept the same from the game “Hare and Hounds” to cross country. For example, they still call the person who is leading the race “The Bunny” or “Hare”. In 1837 English schools started having formal cross country meets.…
