The competition, the family and out-lasting the pain are all minor details of running Cross Country. The competition is extreme, each race you are going against about 200 competitors and about 30 teams.

Knowing we have to run up this ginormous hill as the end of the race, I keep a steady pace. Mud everywhere, rain pouring down on as hard as a rock. Trying to run in this makes it a challenge. People slipping landing hard on their faces, covered in mud head to toe. As we make are way out of the woods I notice that they're only .2 miles to go. We run down this hill and turn left. There it is, the hill we all have saved our energy to get up. It is as tall as our mt Everest, I don’t think I can get up it! But… I have to, I start taking choppy steps trying not to fall. As I look up there isn't much left to go. I start picking up the pace, but it's hard because there's pain everywhere. I’m at the top and realize I am in 2nd, they're only 100 meters left, I start to sprint. I finish I come in second, yay!
I go over to my coach and hug her because I wouldn't have made it this far without her. She pushed me to get better. Never went easy on me, that's what made me a better runner.
In conclusion running cross country is a very challenging sport. Only some can do it. You have to push your limits. And never give up, at the end of the race you should have no energy left. That's when you know you have tried your
