I would reread the information at least twice. Then I research the subject to insuring that I have comprehended the information. Next is writing the essay I feel that I must have the proper grammar or I’m going to fail the writing assignment so I will rewrite it twice. Then there is the anxiety over if the writing assignment does not meet the requirements of the professor. There are other factors like work, family, and not being in a physical classroom that add stress/anxiety to approaching a writing assignment.

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

Writing assignments are the most stressful, hardest, and most annoying type of work I have ever had! My first story to prove my thesis came in the form of a demonstrative speech I had to write for my speech class, where for the life of me, I could not even pick a topic. Though writing my speech was difficult, a harder example of this came as a process essay for my English 101 class. Still, these two examples prove minimal when compared to the horrendous onslaught that became my English 101 Mid Term Exam!…

As I entered AP Language and Composition, I felt confident and excited because I have always enjoyed English. I knew going into the class that it would include writing several papers, but I have enjoyed writing since I was younger; however, some of the writings are more difficult than others. For example, I seem to struggle with synthesis writings, whereas I tend to do well on argumentative writings. I already had an idea as to what I would learn and do throughout the class because I had spoken with students who took it last year, but I did not expect some of the writings to be difficult, or the Capstone paper to be stressful. I felt a little discouraged and agitated at times, but my confidence has grown because I did better than I thought…
