Critique Of Ayn Rand's The Story Of Lily

Decent Essays
I was hesitant of this book, it sounded cliche, you know the whole my my mother's dead and i'm having flashbacks, oh and my dad is abusive. But it really wasn't, the writing is incredible, Voice and word choice are all amazing. The Story being told from a child's (Lily) point of view is very open, but in this case If the story had been written from anyone else's point of view, Lily would have been pathetic, abused, motherless, little girl, who has way too much guilt. this book could have been really bad, and been a dull book about just another girls hardships. But Lily is written as a survivor and an optimist, and her naive faith drives this story.

This book is different from most, when put in a young girl's point of view, most the time

Title: “Taming The Star Runner” The title makes me wonder what kind of horse The Star Runner was. It sparks my interest and makes me also wonder how he tamed the Star Runner. Plot: The exposition of this book is rather unique, because instead of taking place solely in one spot, it was scattered throughout the book. The beginning introduces the main conflict –who owns the key –but not who the characters are as people. It takes a majority of the book for the reader to understand the characters. Foer decided to write the book like this to make it more like reality. It takes a long time to really get to know another person, and by withholding information about the characters he displays this.…

God has a Plan Nicholas Sparks has written incredible books throughout his life. One of my favorites by him is Safe Haven. I liked this because Katie never gave up, it's more in depth than the movie, and the book had a terrific ending, so I didn't want to put the book down. Because Erin has been treated like a piece cardboard, she decided that she couldn't handle the abuse anymore from her husband.…

“Girl” written by Jamaica Kincaid is an unusual writing that portrays a mother’s list of rules that her daughter must obey in order to be accepted in society. Having no knowledge about what culture or time period this was, the reader can understand about how a woman must portray herself to the outside world. The reading also concentrates on a variety of issues including gender, social class, and feminist criticism between mother and daughter. Also, the reader can easily identify that the story is about a mother telling her daughter how to become a traditional woman in all of the common things a household wife would do to survive. Overall, the mother expresses a strict relationship by the tone the author portrayed on her towards the daughter,…
