Critical Thinking Response

Decent Essays
What an amazing critical thinking response. Your post made me think more into the situations and the feelings that someone with dementia has and feels. You put a lot of thought into what you post and that's awesome. I think a lot of people get too frustrated too quickly with someone who is suffering from this disease , and rather than help the person, they give up too quickly.

Daily duties is something I never thought off that could help someone. I seen a lot of women who loved to be in charge of folding laundry or even wrapping silverware. It definitely did help, especially when there were other surrounding the ones who were helping with the duties.

8.) Do not indulge in fear-motivated behavior; instead, replace it with behavior motivated by emotions of love and compassion. Providing the Perfect Balance Between Independence and Support with Dementia Care By Charlie Ricker Aug 15, 2012 Dementia is one of the cruelest blows dealt by nature, something that anyone who has ever seen a loved one suffer though it can surely testify to. Dementia is a crushingly progressive disease that can be brought on by a multitude of factors including injury or illness; it can also (in very rare cases) be hereditary. Dementia is a disease that effects about 1% of the population (the majority of which are over the age of 64) of the UK and as such dementia care is an increasingly important sector of the medical industry.…

Alice seemed to have the most difficulty in the early stages of Alzheimer 's because it was getting hard for her to accept that she was going through the disease. Alice built her reputation on her knowledge, everyone who knew her would acknowledge her vast curriculum of academic achievements. Alice could begin to feel all of the changes going on in her brain. On the other hand, the middle to late stages of Alzheimer’s were most difficult for her family to cope with because they realized there was nothing they could do to slow down the deterioration rate.…

Thank you for your response to my discussion post. You are correct that critical thinking should always be used. You should always have an open mind when assessing and treating patients because it is easy to miss something critical in a patient’s condition. It is also important to realize that every patient is different even if the present the same way because everyone is…

In the first perspective it explains that you, as a person should focus on self improvement and become more self reliant. I honestly think as an opinion you would need to keep boosting people's spirits instead of being self centered because you don't want to make them feel good. Everyone has their own traits, personality, and characteristics, but if you don't care about other people, it shows you that you are careless about the good people on this earth. A strength of the first perspective is that you can get things accomplished and succeed in goals in your lifetime.…

The first principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ is faith (4th Article of Faith). Faith, by definition, is something that is hoped for, yet not seen. Can doubt exist alongside faith, or is it something that is required to gain faith? When questioning which church was the right church to join, Joseph Smith had doubts that prompted him to ask some hard questions (Joseph Smith History 1:10). Through his doubts he was able to find the answers to his questions that led to the restoration of the gospel in these latter-days.…

Caring for a person with dementia requires an individual to be there around the clock. This can make a spouse or children feel overwhelmed. This is especially true if family members neglect their own needs while caring for a person with dementia. My reason for researching this subject is personal, this disease is affecting someone dear to me; my grandmother. It is real hurtful to observe someone suffering with dementia and there is absolutely nothing you can do to help.…

This past week has been a very interesting week learning about dementia. I have found the posts on blackboard have been very helpful on getting input from other views on this subject. It appears that we have all been involved with dementia through our own personal family experience or through work related jobs. I am very interested in getting my mother in for screening to see what is out there to help her stay a step ahead of this illness. Reading chapter 1 and 2 in our course book, Alzheimer's, really helped me stop and consider some of the risk factors that are against my mother in the first place.…
