Writing (Critical Thinking): Question and Answer
1. Based on your quiz results, do you feel you use good critical-thinking strategies? If yes, explain using examples why you feel this way. If no, how might you improve as a critical thinker?
Although I scored 100% accurate, I really feel like I am still growing my critical thinking skills. I am good at looking at others work and project and “poking holes” but I need to work more on looking at my own work/thoughts more critically and make sure my understanding is correct and holistic. Even though I know my way isn’t the only way or even the best way, I need to continue to be open minded and consider a variety of different options (aka school of thoughts).
2. Choose three strategies from the chapter that you can employ to enhance your critical-thinking skills. For each of the three strategies, provide a minimum of 4 or 5 sentences discussing how you can implement each strategy as you progress through your program at Trident
For the first strategy of redefining the way I see things, I will need to remain open minded and step outside of my comfort zone. I know what works for me now, but I must be willing to consider new ways of completing the tasks that I have already achieved expert status. I need to think more about why I am doing some of the things I do, and question is it really the best course of action or am I doing it because of a certain person or situation that needed to be completed quickly or without much hassle. I know that sometimes I do tasks a certain way because someone I looked up to did it that way and I feel a connection by continuing the same process. There will be some things I may not change in my thinking or processes, but others I may allow myself to find a new and improved way that is more evolved for my current as well as future
