Even though bias can still interfere, Critical thinking is a respected skill for individuals to learn and acquire. This ability can enrich the expression of one’s philosophy, refining thinking skills and assists with separating facts from opinions. Individuals performing critical thinking learn to keep judgement and opinions separate when performing critical thinking, which can prove difficult.

One case is when parts happen to come out undersized or oversized during the machining process. In these cases, if critical thinking was not applied to the thoughts of reasoning why this incident occurred, one may assume that it was the technician that is at fault, they must not have made the correct measurements, or pushed the wrong button when setting the machine up. With critical thinking applied to this case, it can add value to finding numerous other causes that could occur for the reasoning of the undersize part. For example, the oil coated on the part causes the blade to slip, the machine programing was not created correctly for this material, original job instructions for the technician are incorrect, this list can keep continuing. Applying critical thinking in the warehouse, I would use the data to assist with driving decisions and finding the root problems. Specifically, with trying to assist with improving the flow, numerous times the warehouse is bottlenecked with work, and loads of overtime hours are required. Using critical thinking I can analyze the work, eliminate waste and improve the true work flow. With critical thinking I can answer questions, such as are we working on items that are not needed yet? Are we making too many steps? Is this material talking long to pack, can we use pre-set containers? How many turnback’s a day are causing the warehouse more work? Using critical thinking I will be able to find longer term fixes, instead of quick bandages for the problems. Ultimately improving the warehouse functions and daily
