In my viewpoint critical thinking is an essential skill of a nurse than can develop through learning experiences during the active involvement in the care of the patients. It is the ability of a person to apply its knowledge and logical reasoning by analysing situation for the best solution as possible when faced with problems. Critical thinking and good deci-sion making is essential for the nurses have in order to deliver safe and effective client care. For example, when a patient has deteriorating obs from BP of 120/80 then after half an hour 80/60, critically, nurse should notify the doctor immediately to provide necessary action to avoid complications.

Critical thinking saves me and my patient from unwanted situation. This happened when I started my shift after the handover in the service ward. A deteriorating man with monitoring of V/S every 30 minutes, when I am supposedly giving his IV drugs, I checked his pulse but could not palpate anything. Using my critical thinking, I think the patient is going through shock and I started CPR immediately and buzz to call for code blue team. I pumped so hard and I was very exhausted that time doing continuous CPR. When the team arrived, the doctor asked me the latest obs I felt confident because I checked the patient. We tried everything to revive the patient. Luckily, yes! After 10 minutes the patient has pulse again. I felt very happy and it was one of the best moments of my career because the wife ap-preciated my care and thanking me for my quick response to the patient’s situation. There is no job that can give me this feeling satisfaction. The best experience I will never forget. I can recall from my past memory, I was rotated from ward to theatre unit as a student, I encountered nurses that were not following policies and regulations because of the daily routine that they have been used to. As a student it was very frustrating knowing that those people really exist, people that are just thinking about their personal gains. My eperinece was, while
I will be assisting in a minor operation case as a scrub nurse together with my buddy nurse. While preparing for the equipments, my buddy nurse accidentally drops the suture that we are preparing, but I was thinking to ask the circulating nurse to get a new suture pack, he insisted me not to but instead he just washed it with disinfectant.
