The major threat to internal validity is that the participants were not randomly assigned to groups. Without randomization, internal validity may be impacted by historical effects, maturation, testing effects, instrumentation, statistical regression, and selection bias. a) My thoughts to “IQ: History of Deceit,” was nothing really. It was informative and insightful on how the testing for IQ came about. It also showed how IQ has been abused throughout the years from the time of its inception to now and that it has happened in different countries; countries that were considered intelligent and respected for their accomplishments as well. IQ also seems to be effected by the interaction of both genetics and the environment in which one is nurtured and their surrounding stimuli. Now, the idea that IQ is predetermined by genetics is kindly understandable when genetics was first being broken down into what genetics was like in the early 1970s.…

“ The issue is not whether there is variation, but whether the variation is significant”. During your research variation will always occur, it is up to the research to determine the threshold, when does variation become significant or just coincidental. One of the most commonly used Confidence Interval is 95%, if the sample is due to coincidence, the difference is not significant we will fail to reject the null hypothesis, however if the difference is significant we will reject the null hypothesis. The null hypothesis, written as H0 states that nothing new has happened and the old theory still stands true. To determine if the variation is significant or coincidental we observed the p value, if the p value is greater than the assigned alpha…

During my excursion to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, I quickly realized many of the emotional connections that humans and their canine pets share. Prior to visiting with the dogs, I made my way around the cat shelter area. After observing the cats, it became evident that their many of their “cute” behaviors were aimed solely at attracting the attention of potential human companions. For instance, a white cat named Sirocco made a distinctive pawing motion whenever I passed her cage, as if she was beckoning me to come closer and visit with her. Yet, after she had garnered my awareness, the snow colored tabby simply retreated back onto to her cardboard bed to continue her restful afternoon.…

Inactivity as a risk for CVD If you a risk factor, it does not mean you will automatically get CVD (Cardiovascular Disease) but the more risk factors you suffer from the more likely it is for you to suffer from CVD later in life unless you are motivated enough to change your lifestyle to a much balanced and healthy lifestyle. But not every risk factor is able to be modified by you deciding to life a better life. These are some non-modifiable risk factors for CVD: • Age: as a person gets older the heart goes under minimal physiologic changes, even if there is not a disease presented in the medical record; the aged heart relaxes less between the pumps and therefore the 4 chambers (right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle) become firmer and might not work as…

The current research explores animals are able to aid humans after a break up of any kind. The overarching thesis is playing with an animal can help the person cope with a break up because of the change of focus to something else. The important role that dogs play is that having a bond with “man’s best friend” means that the animal can sense when the owner is feeling bad, in this case going through a break up, and then make the owner feel better by being there for them. In the first section of the paper, I will discuss background research on how pets and nature have helped people cope with difficult situations. Then, I will discuss my hypothesis that is that dogs help people cope with emotional situations specifically break-ups.…

What my dog has taught me Humans are basically social animals, and in learning to coexist more peacefully, our pets could teach us a thing or two. Humans are sometimes arrogant enough to believe that our lives matter more than others, but in owning a dog it 's clear to see why it doesn 't. I know some people consider their pets as a part of their families. I strongly agree with that stance towards the dog I have in my home. Having been a dog owner since the age of nine, I can claim that a lot of growing and maturing goes on during that timeframe. Pets have this ability to teach people things that even humans cannot.…
