Critical Reflection On Skill Development

Great Essays
Introduction

With every assignment I am required to complete, I always take something from it that I will bring in to my every day, personal life. Project #1 was an extremely helpful learning aid that allowed me to better develop my communication and professional skills. I learned how to get my point across in a very concise and structured manner, forcing me to focus on what mattered and not get carried away with my thoughts. I believe that the purpose of this critical reflection is to demonstrate what skills I had developed, any challenges that I faced, and overall, how this has prepared me to communicate more effectively in the future.

A video that helped me complete this task was 'Formatting Your Recommendation Report' and with this, it taught me how to break up my message into different sections, providing the reader with an easier understanding of the different components. I was able to use sub-headings more effectively than ever before (Ametros, 2018). This task did not have only one part to it, but two, which required more critical thinking and planning. Once I received the response from my client, I was then asked by my client to brainstorm some talking points that would be shared with their stakeholders. This was a little more difficult as I had to completely ignore everything I wrote in my recommendation memo and include points that would be more appropriate and well thought-out for the stakeholders. It was important to ensure that when you are providing information to someone that knows very little of what you are sharing with them, that everything is written out in an organized manner that easy to understand and convey to any …show more content…
The skills I had to learn and develop in order to construct these emails to unsuccessful vendors were more advanced than any other skills I was required to learn prior to this task. I needed to somehow deliver negative news to individuals and companies that were not expecting it. I had to utilize my emotional intelligence and carefully assess my emails before sending them to the unsuccessful vendors. In order to do so, I turned to the videos 'Negative News - Organization' and 'Negative News Strategy.' The first one taught me how I should properly lay out my email so that the vendor has a clear understanding of the message I am sending to them. The second one taught me how to achieve the purpose of the email and I understood that I had to be very clear with what I wanted to say, but also soften the negative news in a way that was the complete opposite of harsh or stern (Ametros, 2018). It is also important to present the negative news in a clear and respectful way, and make sure to only state it once (Meyer,

English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…

Self reflection is the mental process that acquires knowledge and understanding through thoughts and experience which helps encourage self awareness. This essay focuses on assessing my objectives and how I have developed my skills from the beginning of this semester until now. At the start of semester A, I wasn’t confident in preparing for the skills sessions and workshops. I wasn 't always able to find the correct answers to the workshop questions set which made it relatively difficult for me to participate in lectures despite finding myself at the library every other day. I began by listening to knowledge based lectures online and making notes alongside the recommended reading given by my lecturers or the module guide.…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…
