The word “homework” makes children angry or sad, simply because they know homework is meant to be done at home. While some students have several after school activities, the amount of homework they have to do is overbearing from them. The amount of homework isn’t only an issue in the US, but also in other countries too. Parents feel like their children are receiving too much, and it becomes a problem in the household, where it interferes with family time or other activities. Some parents started to create their own homework, just so their child can feel challenged. One parent implied that, “Making it less and less is contributing to us being less competitive worldwide.” (Wallace) While others think that their child’s homework is more busy work, than actually helping the child improve its performance. Overall, it all depends on the parent and the child’s homework.
