Due to technology more text messages are being sent and in those messages is the bad grammar that teens are commonly using and making a part of the English language degrading society. It also quotes,” 58 % of students with mobile phones say they have sent a text message during class.” This helps to prove that technology is a distraction to teens in school because the percentage is more than majority according to a survey taken by students at a school. If students are sending messages during class then that means that they are not fully grasping the American language and their slang way of texting is the only thing that they grasp , which is part of the reason literacy is low. In addition it also states,” ………so many teenagers forget to follow simple grammar rules,including capitalizing the first letter in every sentence and I’s.”Although this is a reason to why text messaging and technology is bad for literacy , it does not support nor give evidence to back this up making it weak.
