Going to the malls and shopping is extremely common in this generation. In “My Year of No Shopping,” the author argues that “Not shopping saves an astonishing amount of time” (Patchett, 2017). There are a lot more things expected from this generation, and if they will invest more time on activities such as shopping, then they will be left with no time to do other things. Moreover, in order to clarify her idea further she uses logos. For instance, in “My Year of No Shopping,” the author argues that “It doesn’t take long for a craving to subside” (Patchett, 2017). This is a logical fact which most of us believe. It’s true that everyone craves for things whether it be shopping or something else, but the real fact is if we stop thinking about that stuff, we would not really be requiring it. Furthermore, the author here is at her best when she makes the audience realize the real worth of money and time. For instance, time and money go together because they both play a vital role in one’s life. If we do not recognize the value of any of them, we will not achieve success. In “My Year of No Shopping,” the author argues that “If you stop thinking about what you might want, it’s a whole lot easier to see what other people don’t have” (Patchett, 2017). If we try to persuade someone about our idea, then it couldn’t get better by convincing them through comparing them with other people. For instance, comparing people who have every pleasure of life with people who crave for it, the author convinced me with her persuasive language. In addition, this article turns out to be even more effective when the author provides real life examples. Although this may be true that people can’t control their desires when they get to know about the black Friday sale, but the author’s way of explaining things especially her persuasive arguments made me realize that my money holds a higher worth than a fifty percent sale at Dubai mall. A wise man once said to me, “Figure out how to control yourself or else the world will control you”. Fortunately, the wise man who delivered these golden words is my father. These words are a true fact and have also been proven. No matter what happens, if one does not acquire some control in himself, he/she will never prosper. The author here is conveying the same idea through this article. Furthermore, the article becomes even more fascinating when she talks about feelings. In “My Year of No Shopping,” the author argues that, “If you want
