This semester I took a class that was new to me. I knew absolutely nothing about journalism coming into MMC2100. The most valuable assignments were the AP practices. Although I was frustrated because I bought the online access to the www.apstylebook.com which ended up not having page numbers for some assignments. In the end, the constant use of AP style helped make it come more natural for some bigger projects further along in the semester.…

In this essay, I am going to discuss how reflective practice leads to learning and improved patient care. I will also discuss the Gibbs and Johns reflective cycles and justify their use in continued learning. Reflection is something that many of us do on a daily basis without even realising it. It is a process you go through where you recapture your experiences, analyse and evaluate them, to make sense of them.…

Self-Reflection 2 Eliut Lopez-Enriquez Millersville University Moral distress comes in many ways to many nurses. My moral distress situation came about when an unresponsive patient came to the emergency room and the family had a Do Not Resuscitate/Do Not Intubate paperwork. I was the primary nurse; the house supervisor was present to ensure that the proper paperwork was at hand. After verification of the paperwork and talks with the family, the team stood by to ensure the patient no further suffering and no further distress felt by the family.…

I know I will be able to take what I learn in this class and apply it to many other classes that I will be taking in the future. From the beginning, I decided to pursue this course because of my curiosity to learn in depth about sentence structure, how to correctly complete essays of many different writing styles, and so much more. I especially enjoy how we keep it interesting by reading stories that have to do with what we are learning to get a feel for how to apply the topic. An example of this would be The Twelve Angry Men paired with learning ethos, pathos, and logos. I do not feel as though this is an ordinary writing class.…

Throughout this semester, I have genuinely learned a lot. AP College English is definitely a difficult course for me, but I have strived to make efforts in changing that. It’s difficult to pinpoint all the things that I have learned during the course. I have learned many things about novels, authors, grammar, writing, reading, and the list goes on. There are several concepts we learned about in my community class that apply to my service work. We Care Arts strives to not only stabilize members of the community with disabilities, but they also recognize the need across the entire community and travel to schools, nursing homes, and even hospitals to give art lessons. In this way, We Care Arts strives to help develop the greater Dayton community and not just their clients. In class, we learned about what it means to work towards community development. While some people believe that community development is strictly an economical choice, developing a community also requires getting citizens to care about the future of their city.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…
