College is one of the most important decisions in anyone's life and there are just too many factors to consider while trying to find a college that best fits you. For this compare and contrast essay I have decided to break each of my six colleges down into six criteria These criteria will help me decide which college would be the best fit for me. The colleges I have chosen are as follows: The University of South Carolina (USC), The University of Clemson, The University of Alabama, The University of Baylor, The University of Duke, and The University of Southern California (USCa). The reason I chose: The University of South Carolina, The University of Clemson, and The University of Alabama because I have always dreamed of going too these colleges …show more content…
In doing this project it showed me how much more a private college cost rather than a public college, which is why I have decided that I would much rather go to a public college rather than a private college. All of the colleges that are private schools cost $10,000 dollars more than all of the public colleges The public colleges include: The University of Alabama, The University of South Carolina, and The University of Clemson. The private colleges include The University of Southern California, The University of Duke, and The University of Baylor. While researching my six colleges I noticed that if I want to go to a college which I am going to be able to pay off easily later in my life I am going to need to go to a cheaper college because I am trying to get a degree in Occupational Therapy which is not one of the highest paying careers for the costs of the degree so I am most likely going to a public college unless I were to somehow get a full ride to a private …show more content…
This is very important to me because I would like to become an occupational therapist after college and I need to go to a school which is well known for occupational therapy so that I can pay back the loan that I get for college later on in my life. The colleges that have some of the best occupational therapy programs include The University of Southern California, The University of Duke, and The University of Baylor. I noticed that all of the colleges with the best occupational therapy programs are private schools which costs a lot of money. Although the other schools: The University of South Carolina, The University of Clemson, and The University of Alabama do not have exceptional occupational therapy programs they still have pretty good post-graduate medical schools that are much cheaper than the three private schools I have researched. So in the end, I am going to have to weigh whether or not it is important to go to a college with a great occupational therapy program or got to a cheaper

If public colleges are free of charge, then the costs of colleges are mainly depend on federal funds. However, there are limited amount of federal funds given by the government to these public institutions, and this will lead to the problem of limited admission in public colleges. Because public colleges can admit less students due to financial reasons, the competition to go to public college will be even more intense. When in my senior year, I did apply to several colleges and after getting decisions and all the financial aid I could get, I decided that it was better for me to go to Sacramento City College because I would not have to pay anything and that I would be stress free and gain a better education rather than going to a UC where I would have to pay a lot of money and have to stress about paying those fees which would greatly hinder my education. I know that I will be transferring to a UC after 2 years in Sacramento City College and I also knew that there were benefits to all that. I would be saving about $30,000 dollars just by going to Sacramento City College for just 2 years and would not have to pay anything. In the end, I made a decision not only what would be better for me for also for the sole factor that I would not have to stress about the tuition and fees that colleges are racking up these days and that I would get a better education that those worrying about all those fees in UC…

Every student has a different reason for why they choose to attend college. In “What is the Point of College?” written by Kwame Anthony Appiah, he identifies two psychological ideologies of why students attend college, which he calls “Utopia U” and “Utility U.” . Students will either psychologically go to a Utopian University or Utility University, though it all depends on their reasoning to why they are attending college. If one attends a Utopia UniveristyUniversity it would mean they are going for their personal investment, and if they attend a Utility University they are going as a financial investment. While attending college, it is vital to use these two reasoning, Utopia and Utility U as motivation to get your degree.…

The cost of tuition affects both the business side and educational side of a student. The school makes a business out of the cost of tuition by setting a certain amount of money so students who are accepted can go and pay for it. With that money they can renovate the school, give the students some new material, and to pay staff members. Tuition can be expensive so some students are affected by tuition because they would have to choose an institution based on which school is cheaper rather than by the school with the best system. The schools with lower tuition are often state schools with more students, while some privates like Bentley University have few students and are considered a small campus have tuition that’s through the roof.…
