Crisis management in crucial especially with the current rise in incidences such as natural disasters, pandemics and terrorism (Zhong, S. et al, 2014). Institutions need to be always prepared to handle a crisis and this asking the question, what if there was a crisis? This allow the decision makers to assess the resources that would be required and create a response plan.
In the event of a major accident, the number of patients and the severity of the illness or injury can outweigh the hospital’s ability to respond appropriately. Planning is required on the implement a disaster preparedness plan. The team members need to understand their roles and be available when required (Rokkas, P., et all, 2014).
