Would it come as a surprise to know that our government is made up of mostly corrupt criminals? These criminals call themselves “politicians” so that they appear to be less corrupted by the public. It is considered to be an “undeniable fact that within the last two to three decades politicians have extended their patronage to criminals and now criminals are wealthy and influential enough to enter politics” (“Criminalization of Politics and Politicization of Criminals”). Most people in today's society have come to realize that the criminalization of political differences Is a serious problem in U.S. politics.

It all started when Kenneth Starr’s office was authorized, by Attorney General Janet Reno, to further investigate alleged scandals within the Clinton administration itself. The main focus of this investigation was Bill Clinton's suspected relationship with Monica Lewinsky. It was in a separate sexual harassment case where Bill Clinton denied having a relationship with Lewinsky while he was under oath. Even after the scandal was made public on January 21, Clinton continued to deny that anything ever happened between himself and Lewinsky. On September 9, 1998, Kenneth Starr made a report to congress which deduced that Clinton had committed perjury, the offense of willfully telling an untruth in a court after having taken an oath or affirmation, in regard to his speculated relationship with Lewinsky and had also obstructed justice in his sexual harassment case by pursuing to buy Lewinsky’s connivance with a job
