Arresting Officer’s Statement: “Police responded to a burglary in progress call at 219 Avondale Road, Portsmouth at approximately 0330 hours. The victim, who is 87 years old, told police dispatch several individuals had kicked the front door of her residence. The individuals entered the residence and one of the individuals pointed a handgun at the victim as the other

When police went to stop the vehicle, it sped off, but the driver lost control hitting a fire hydrant, and all three males bailed out of the vehicle and ran in different directions. All three males were detained and transported to 311 County Street to be interviewed. The shoes the individuals were wearing matched the foot prints located at 219 Avondale and also the prints around the stolen vehicle. The males were identified as Devonte Smith DOB: 8/23/96, Keyonta Owens DOB: 3/20/95 and Traquan Smith DOB: 3/26/98. All three were advised of their rights by Det. Baker at 311 County Street. During the interviews it was determine that all three were involved in the armed burglary at 219 Avondale Road, and it was also determine they were told by someone else the victim kept large amounts of money in the house. D.SMITH was the one with the firearm when they went into residence. K.OWENS kicked the door of the residence. K.OWENS and T.SMITH went through the house looking for money, jewelry and keys while D. Smith held the victim at gunpoint. Det. Baker was able to determine that they had the firearm prior to the incident at Avondale Road, and they had it when they stole the vehicle from the Chesapeake
